Tsikuri by Tupac Martir and Satore Studio (2017)

An ephemeral dance and music performance that places the visitor in the middle of the piece.

Tsikuri was created as an experiment in order to understand how the integration of all the elements can work in a 360-film process. Satore combined musicians and dancers while using various techniques of filming and recording. Playing with the notion of “what you really see in VR” and which elements tend to play tricks on the eye.

With the use of lighting, video, scrim and smoke, the environment is ever changing across the performers. The viewer is challenged, and asked the question “What is truly there?” The recording techniques, combined with the edit and VFX, create a piece that tries to understand the various degrees and limits of what our eyes can see. This was the beginning of our exploration between performance and immersive technologies.
