These are a selection of more paintings of various sizes – oil on canvas as well as some acrylics on cardboard. Most of these weren’t used in the final VR worlds. Some were used in the projection screen when Veil was shown at The Barbican. The House which Veil was centered around which some of these ‘paintings for textures’ shown here is based on a pub which has been left derelict in the village where Iain Nicholls lives for as long as he can remember. Iain wanted to choose a focal point for the installation of something which on the outside looks useless and decrepit but which when seen in virtual reality reveals its other secret side.
