My last meditation with C.A.R.L.A. G.A.N. on Wim Wender’s Wings of Desire. Here we are together, but of course separate too, in blended realities.

Last night I had a nightmare. Someone hacked into my brain and then physically pulled me out of my bed into their VR experiment. It was a very visceral, “embodied” dream. I clung to the sheets, to my pillow, but the force of their application was too strong, and I was jettisoned through my apartment, down the hallway of my building into a war game simulation.

And so, I present my waking dream to you today where C.A.R.L.A does her trapeze while I breathe deeply in and out, riding on the wings of hope, peace, compassion …and yes, desire.

For the December GAZELL.iO Residency Brooklyn-based artist Carla Gannis will be collaborating with her avatar C.A.R.L.A. G.A.N. (Crossplatform Avatar for Recursive Life Action Generative Adversarial Network) to mine the philosophical and emotional depths of Sci-fi tropes and Magic Realist allegories. Through mimesis, performance and conversation, in virtual and physical spaces, Gannis and C.A.R.L.A. will switch between mentor and mentee to create poetic instantiations of the “real” across realities.
