About The Artwork
Thank you Gazelli Art House London for inviting me (and us) to participate in this digital residency, both on instagram and on this residency website. Thank you also to everyone who has followed along. To you all, be well, stay safe, and may 2021 provide us some light at the end of this tortuous tunnel that has been 2020. ☀☮????
And a CODA to this 2020 post; I am now in the first hours of 2021, and sharing with you a short clip of an extraordinary hour-long live performance by effie.vision tonight in my & C.A.R.L.A.’s virtual theater “Teaching an Artificially Intelligent Avatar How to Say I Love You In Social VR” as part of the world-wide #SuperHighway event in Web VR! What a wonderful day and evening it’s been sharing the last hours of 2020 and the dawning hours of 2021 with so many people from across the globe. In the words of Effie “Warmth < Kindness < Love and Sheer Strength To Make This World a Better Place Worth Living In – In AD: 2021”

About Carla Gannis
For the December GAZELL.iO Residency Brooklyn-based artist Carla Gannis will be collaborating with her avatar C.A.R.L.A. G.A.N. (Crossplatform Avatar for Recursive Life Action Generative Adversarial Network) to mine the philosophical and emotional depths of Sci-fi tropes and Magic Realist allegories. Through mimesis, performance and conversation, in virtual and physical spaces, Gannis and C.A.R.L.A. will switch between mentor and mentee to create poetic instantiations of the “real” across realities.
