Order & Lagos
Adesola Yusuf (Arclight.jpg) | 7 April - 7 May 2022
GAZELL.iO presents a solo exhibition of Adesola Yusuf's ERC-721 token series, ORDER & LAGOS, in the Project Space.
Adesola Yusuf, otherwise known as Arclight.jpg, presents three unique ERC-721 tokens from his series ORDER & LAGOS. The works illustrate his personal and individual experiences growing up in Lagos. He presents an illustration of the city life's positive and negative experiences, highlighting elements of poverty, police brutality, and lack of academic opportunities yet acknowledging the vibrancy and excitement of the spaces he grew up. The descriptions of the works are quotes that narrate this poetic duality of his life in Lagos.
These works will be available to purchase on SuperRare from the 8th of April. This series is certified by Verisart.
Yusuf, born in 1997, is a multi-media artist from Lagos, Nigeria. He graduated from Yaba College of Technology with an HND in Graphic design (2018).
The visual expressive form of his works takes inspiration from the art of the High Renaissance, the Baroque and Rococo. His colour palette is primarily inspired by the vibrancy of Pop Art and Post-internet art. Yusuf describes his works as a visual soliloquy, detailed with vibrant and contrasting colours. He attempts to give the viewer an insight into his anecdotes that focus on his interaction with his immediate environment, particularly in Lagos. Yusuf uses art as a medium to archive the experience of one's individuality and also the effect of sociopolitical issues in his daily life and that of the people around him.
