About The Artwork
Auriea Harvey's main focus today is on her sculptural practice. This involves both tangible, 3D printed, sculpture and a digital practice which manifests as desktop interactives and mobile AR. All the sculptures are born in the computer, an amalgamation of imagination and 3d scans with which she creates characters that tell a certain story captured in form.
Here we see Minoriea, which Auriea considers to be her personal avatar. This was the first physical sculpture she made in 2017 and was featured in her solo show in 2021 @bitforms gallery. This digital version of Minoriea was also featured at the first Christie's curated auction Proof of Sovereignty earlier this year.
The Mystery series is a more freeform expression on the subject of the "Vanitas". This is a concept from the Baroque period of art which give visual form to the subject of beauty and death. She remixes scans of a skull, a flower, and a mask-like face in various ways. Here we see version 1 and version 5 from this series. Version 5 was part of the exhibition on @feralfile The Bardo: Unpacking the Real.
