About The Artwork
Glass plates and a metal frame are assembled along with an airtight compact of a cubic shape. Air is slowly pumped out of the resulting sculpture. The constant rise of low pressure level leads to the unpredictable implosion of the sculpture itself. emptyimplosionCuboids is part of the ongoing series ‘the unstable systems’: an investigation into vacuum states and their destructive power, excised in the virtual space as simulation and as well in the physical space. Although the collapse of the fragile glass plates stands out at the end of the implosion process with its tragic beauty, the artwork actually focuses on the probability of the event.
