Jake Elwes
GAZELL.iO is thrilled to announce Jake Elwes as the July artist in residence.
His residency is in conjunction with his exhibition at GAZELL.iO's project Space, located on the lower ground floor at Gazelli Art House.
Jake Elwes is a media artist living and working in London. He studied at The Slade School of Fine Art, UCL (2013-17). Recent works explore his research into machine learning and artificial intelligence. His practice looks for poetry and narrative in the success and failures of these systems while also investigating and questioning the code and ethics behind them.
Throughout his residency, we will be focusing on his ongoing project, The Zizi Project. GAZELL.iO provides access to Elwes’ website - Zizi.ai - which takes the user to an online drag cabaret where they can interact with each drag performer and select different acts. We also provide stills of each drag queen/king, which are exhibited in the GAZELL.iO project space.
Elwes's Zizi Project explores AI bias by queering datasets with drag performers. They simultaneously demystify and subvert AI systems.
On 29th July, 6-8 pm BST, Elwes will discuss his works live at the Gazelli Art House and will be accompanied by a Drag act.
